PT, can you tell us why you feel it's important to be at the Global Citizen Festival?
PT

Peter Tunney · 5:04 AM

I don't think it's important for ME to be at the Global Citizen Festival necessarily... but I think it is important that the Global Citizen Festival is HERE!
PT

Peter Tunney · 5:04 AM

It's one of those few things that has a great impact on people today.
PT

Peter Tunney · 5:04 AM

There's a lot of talk about GC, and about ending global poverty.
PT

Peter Tunney · 5:04 AM

For the first time, everybody believes you can... That's a BIG thing
GC

Global Citizen · 5:04 AM

Right!

So what role does art specifically play in achieving some of the goals, like gender parity?
PT

Peter Tunney · 5:05 AM

Art used in the right way, changes our perspective. It allows dialogue that wasn't allowed before.
PT

Van Gogh once said, "I don't know if my paintings are any good, but it's better than the white wall"
GC

Global Citizen · 5:05 AM

Haha totally, that's great!
PT

Peter Tunney · 5:06 AM

So I think we can say it's certainly better than the plain tent!
GC

Global Citizen · 5:06 AM

For sure!
GC

Global Citizen · 5:06 AM

How do you define a global citizen?
PT

Peter Tunney · 5:06 AM

They're active! The point of engagement is so intense, the people and GCF staff are so into it. There's calm in the chaos. They bring a lot of energy to NY - that you can do it! Things are POSSIBLE!
PT

Peter Tunney · 5:06 AM

I mean 50,000 people in Central Park, and there's not a single paper cup on the ground!?!?
PT

Peter Tunney · 5:06 AM

I just like that all of these Global Citizens are DOING! There's not a person here not doing something...
GC

Global Citizen · 5:06 AM

So true
PT

Peter Tunney · 5:07 AM

and I like that because Im a DOer!
