Join us as we discuss the reasons behind bullying and methods in which to eliminate bullying entirely from schools and workplace environments.

SJ

Sally Jesse · 6:57 PM

Hello there!
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:02 PM

Today we will be discussing the presence and effects bullying has on individuals of all ages.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:03 PM

Good Afternon!!
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:03 PM

Most people get bullied at some point in their lives. But why do some people snap and go to extreme while others can let it roll off their shoulders? JD?
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:03 PM

Were you bullied as a child Sally?
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:04 PM

I was a little. Nothing major bc I was and always will be awesome.
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:04 PM

Confidence.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:04 PM

There are so many different forms of what is classified as "bullying"
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:05 PM

True. I remember a black kid dumping juice on my head for whatever reason. I cried and wanted my mom to pick me up, but she said she would not. Deal with it.
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:05 PM

Bullying? Yes. Grounds for shooting up the entire class? No.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:05 PM

Someone put garbonzo beans in my carton of milk. I drank it without acting like I saw the beans...completely thwarted the attempt to bully me
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:06 PM

I simply remembered what that kid did to me and chose to stay away from his group. He's dead now btw. Got gunned down in a gang shooting. And here I am loving life:)
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:06 PM

to say that bullying lead to a mass shooting or rampage killing is preposterous!
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:06 PM

That's like saying the fork made you fat...lol
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:06 PM

That's what people think.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:07 PM

We make choices and with those choices come consequences...don't blame what isn't to blame
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:08 PM

Kids are innocent...mean...but innocent in what is today called bullying.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:08 PM

In my day they called it "picking on someone"
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:08 PM

He was seeking approval from his degenerate friends while I was seeking approval from a role model- my mom.
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:08 PM

Picking on/bullying. Whatever you want to call it, it drives people to do crazy things.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:08 PM

the wussification of America...
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:09 PM

Standing up for yourself is one thing. Retaliation is completely different.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:09 PM

Maybe I'm out of touch or something but it seems to me that bullying is an excuse...unless it's assult
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:10 PM

Similar to when spanking became abuse...what?
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:10 PM

Kids use it to control their parents...it's an excuse
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:10 PM

Some people just do not have the family raising others are fortunate to have. Making your kids feel loved goes a long way.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:11 PM

So, you're saying the parents are at fault for raising bullies?
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:11 PM

Or that the victim of bullying was raised to be a victim?
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:11 PM

Revenge takes time and sometimes no action at all. I did nothing but ignore him and eventually he got what was coming to him. Sounds mean, but I wasn't going to play God.
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:13 PM

Parents aRe at fault for not raising their kids properly and investing the time necessary to produce a productive member of society.
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:13 PM

It always starts at home. We call them statistics.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:13 PM

Hmmmm...I disagree somewhat.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:14 PM

There are exceptions to every rule
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:14 PM

Sure there are cases of people coming from horrible conditions and making something of themselves, but that's usually not the case.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:14 PM

Maya Angelou for example...
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:14 PM

Exactly
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:15 PM

CAme from a broken home, was raped when she was 8, passed from mom to dad to grandma etc. Was a prostitute in the early 50's but pulled herself up and become one of the greatest souls to ever grace the earth
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:16 PM

on the other hand...I know families of wealth and advantage that have bully kids
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:16 PM

She is an exception now, but only when she changed her ways and decided to change her life for the better.
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:16 PM

Yep. Wealth and privilege does not mean they can raise children properly and lovingly.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:17 PM

But even if they do...outside influence can change the road you're on
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:17 PM

I think Bullies in general are insecure, that's all.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:17 PM

Maybe their dad was a big football player and they want to be a ballet dancer...
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:17 PM

Many extraneous factors will come into play and try to influence you, but if you have a solid foundation of right and wrong (comes with good parenting), you'll be fine.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:18 PM

How many kids do you have?
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:18 PM

Just one. Four legs. And he's never disappointed me:)
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:18 PM

I"m sorry that's a loaded question...
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:18 PM

I have two amazing parents though and a very successful brother.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:18 PM

Now let's talk about in school, literally
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:19 PM

What is the school to do about aggressive behaviors and bullying?
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:19 PM

The schools' hands are practically tied. They can't knish the bulky bc the parents will flip, but they also cannot get through to the parents to knish the bully. Catch 22
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:20 PM

*punish
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:20 PM

Knish I understood.
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:20 PM

*bully. Wow I can't type
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:20 PM

When spanking was allowed in school...and I dont' mean beating on kids...I mean swats, there weren't near the problems there are today
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:21 PM

Additionally...The Pledge was removed and all hell broke loose in public schools
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:22 PM

I don't condone bullying...but there has to be recourse that the schools can take to elimate the threat
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:22 PM

That's true, but it's not just because we don't allow spanking anymore. Think about what kids are exposed to these days (internet, Facebook) and how they get these ideas constantly put into their heads. With all information easily accessible,
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:22 PM

Kids are getting into more trouble bc its easier. Back in the day we did not have access to half the resources kids now have.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:22 PM

Not to mention desensitization via video games
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:23 PM

If you die...or kill someone...just reset the game and all is well.
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:23 PM

My mom was a teacher who saw how everything has changed from the 80s until a few years ago when she retired.
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:24 PM

Kids should understand that video games are different that real life. I did. My brother did.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:24 PM

Did she teach in a large school?
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:24 PM

Good point though.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:24 PM

at what grade level?
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:24 PM

K-5 mostly then middle school. She had the self contained kids, resource and she was a school psychologist.
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:24 PM

Large for charleston. Lol
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:25 PM

She had ALL of the problem kids.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:25 PM

Just wondered because inner city kids have different school experience that rural or suburban kids
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:25 PM

When she was at pepperhill elementary, it was a very poor zone. Very.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:25 PM

But bullying exists everywhere...schools, corporations, etc
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:26 PM

Public too
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:26 PM

Question: Is the NBA bullying Sterling into selling the Clippers?
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:26 PM

Bullying is everywhere. Grown adults doing it is just so sad. They obviously have some unmet power needs and severely insecure.
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:26 PM

Well when lawsuits are involved...
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:27 PM

How do we stop it Sally? How do we make each and every parent responsible?
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:27 PM

At that level they call it cohersion (sp)
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:27 PM

It happens well before that. The problem (once again) is youngsters getting pregnant way too young and not wanting to deal with the consequences.
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:28 PM

They got pregnant young bc they didn't have good parents themselves. Thus, further perpetuating the cycle.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:28 PM

YOu do realize when you have children, you will be to blame for every mistake they make...if you follow your current line of thinking
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:29 PM

Yep. That's why I'm scared to death to have them!
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:29 PM

LOL....on that note...Nice tawk Sally
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:29 PM

With my line of thought, I'll never be ready!
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:29 PM

But what beautiful babies the two or you would make!
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:29 PM

Nice chatting with you JD. Until next time...
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:29 PM

Haha. Now ain't that the TRUTH?!?!
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:29 PM

Thanks:)
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:30 PM

See you soon....keep practicing!!
SJ

Sally Jesse · 7:30 PM

Lololololololol
