Welcome to the Dream Tank worldwide chat, where dreams become reality!

Summer Cuppari Gould · 3:51 PM

This is a very exciting opportunity for Dream Tank, women and girls.

Heidi Cuppari · 3:51 PM

Hi! I'm Heidi Cuppari, the co-founder of Dream Tank, here with my daughter Summer, who helped found Dream Tank.
SG

Summer Cuppari Gould · 3:52 PM

I'm Summer Cuppari Gould, i'm 12 years old, almost 13 and in the seventh grade.

A social entrepreneurship accelerator and think tank for kids and teens to launch their dreams and solve local and global challenges.
HC

Heidi Cuppari · 3:53 PM

We started this in July 2016 as I was inspired by my kids - Summer and Cody, who would ask brilliant questions about the world and have amazing solutions and ideas that many of us adults had never thought of.
HC

Heidi Cuppari · 3:53 PM

Summer: tell us about your most fulfilling moment being an entrepreneur in Dream Tank?
SG

Summer Cuppari Gould · 4:04 PM

Dream Tank opened up many doors to exciting opportunities as an entrepreneur. My most fulfilling moment would be with my partner Anya, when we helped to save a local owl preserve from being bulldozed and turned into affordable apartments.
SG

Summer Cuppari Gould · 4:04 PM

Although this is important for people who can't afford other housing, it's not worth killing all the owls who live there and have lived there for so many years before.
SG

Summer Cuppari Gould · 4:04 PM

Anya and I wanted to change that, so we met with the head of the owl preserve, Ken Beitel who also wanted to stop this. n

Heidi Cuppari · 4:04 PM

So, tell us what happened next?
SG

Summer Cuppari Gould · 4:18 PM

Anya and I own a company called Story Architects. (check out our website at www.storyarchitects.biz) It is a film production company where we make all different types of videos that comment on the world around us from a kid’s perspective.
SG

Summer Cuppari Gould · 4:18 PM

Our motto is “Why Wait to Shine” which means that kids shouldn’t have to wait to grow up to Shine and do what they love and make a difference. In having this business, Ken told us that we could make a film to try to stop the bulldozing.
SG

Summer Cuppari Gould · 4:18 PM

We met with many different people, including Andrew Ackerman, a drone filmer who was on the production team of Chasing Coral. We wanted a drone to show the perspective of an owl. When we were finished with the footage we edited the video for a whole day.
SG

Summer Cuppari Gould · 4:18 PM

This video was then sent out to 11,000 people and was in press releases. We also spoke at the city counsel and BVSD (Boulder Valley School District) who owned the land. A few days later, we heard that we won the case!
HC

Heidi Cuppari · 4:19 PM

And we invited other kids at Dream Tank to come speak at the decision-making meeting - and 5 other kids gave 2 minute speeches on behalf of the owls. These two young female leaders showed many kids - and adults - whats possible when you speak up about something you believe in.
HC

Heidi Cuppari · 4:20 PM

That really got some attention for your film production company, Summer! You've since gotten asked to speak on panels and make films, right?
SG

Summer Cuppari Gould · 4:21 PM

Yes we were asked to speak at the YPO (Young Presidents Organization) and many other panels
HC

Heidi Cuppari · 4:22 PM

How does this make you feel as a young girl, when you've noticed an imbalance in women's leadership in the world?
SG

Summer Cuppari Gould · 4:23 PM

That there needs to be more female leaders and rolemodels. Because women are just as capable as men.
SG

Summer Cuppari Gould · 4:25 PM

And girls are just as capable as boys.
HC

Heidi Cuppari · 4:27 PM

Thank you Summer! Later today we will have some more comments from female team members at Dream Tank - University of Colorado students who join Dream Tank as Fellows and learn social entrepreneurship and leadership.

We welcome comments and questions from the community!

I am so impressed at this new push towards equality and empowerment for women. As a woman of color, my experience differs slightly from that of many in the U.S. Having said that, I would like to see representation and empowerment of all forms. Women helping women is how we thrive
PD

Pranathi Durgempudi · 2:21 AM

I believe that the answer to this issue lies in the hands of the youth. Dream Tank seeks to bridge the gaps of inequity by providing a platform and opportunity for young girls and boys alike to tackle the greatest problems of our issues through entrepreneurship!
PD

Pranathi Durgempudi · 2:23 AM

By promoting diversity, Dream Tank empowers the younger generation to make changes for the better in the world they live in. As Dream Tank continues to grow, we hope to give voice to the “lost Einsteins” around the world (a phrase coined by an article in The Atlantic).

Hello ladies! My name is Maddy, I'm the Events Coordinator at Dreamtank! I love the power it gives to kids and young females and it has taught me a lot about myself. I work with 5 strong ladies who teach me about communication, teamwork, and new creativity.

One thing that I am particularly passionate about is the access to education for every child, because that is the basis for development and equality. One issue we face in the United States is the removal of DACA. This gave the opportunity for thousands of women to seek higher e

One person I would like to share about is a friend from Iran who moved to Germany as a refugee. She got her Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering and is now going for her Masters at CU. However, she is unable to study areospace engineering in the US because of her

Bailey Payne · 7:41 PM

Hi everyone! My name is Bailey and I am the Business Development Coordinator at Dream Tank. After reading this conversation threat so far, I am reminded of how proud I am to be working alongside so many strong and confident women.
BP

Bailey Payne · 7:43 PM

Not only are the ladies of Dream Tank intelligent, driven, and self-assured, we come from a variety of backgrounds and are a variety of different ages. I think that this is unique and empowering because it shows how important gender equity is, regardless of our age or background.
BP

Bailey Payne · 7:48 PM

And Maddy, in response to reading about your friend from Iran, I first want to state that I was unaware that certain majors at CU are unavailable to students depending on their nationality. Second of all, a potential solution to this issue might to take action and help get people

informed about the circumstances and regulations against certain students because of their nationality. I find that we often underestimate the power of our own voices and in response, choose not to take action and make a change when we really are capable of doing so.
