I had her *almost* 5 years ago. and her pregnancy was really easy, as was the labor and I thought "man, I'm good at this, I should get paid for this!!"

so, after I felt my body was healthy enough from after having Torin, I got to researching Surrogacy.

I found some forums, started there, and then research agencies in the area, and then signed up with one last december I think.

My goal is to be able to stay home with my kids, but also help relieve the financial burden of student loans.

And we are now achieving that goal. I can stay home and still have a salary! My loans are paid off now, we're almost done with my hubby's

Each "client" gets their own lawyer, so we went through a very lengthy contract and made revisions several times and then everyone signs, so that helped with any concerns that he or I had about legal issues or requirements from us.

I'm a little nervous, given that all my experience is with a midwife, but I feel that I've made the best possible OB decision and we'll just see how it goes once I start going to him for appointments.

What is it like to talk to agencies? How do you apply?

sure, yeah, I researched agencies first, found the one that was most recomended and fit with me best. They usually have applications on their web sites.

She found two, but one was out of the country, and they kind of fizzled out, but the other couple was really interested in using me as a surrogate.

I wanted to make sure that I could use a chiropractor, I would be supported in a drug free labor, that they would agree to medically reduce if there were more than 3 babies ( i have to be able to take care of my own kids, I'm not carrying quads!)

I also agreed that if they choose to do an amnio, and they choose to abort it for any reason, I'm ok with that too, b/c it's not my baby. I personally wouldn't do that, but I'm fine with them making that decision. That's a BIG one for matching couple

I think it would be harder if I was a "traditional surrogate" where they use my eggs. but I'm a "gestational surrogate" so there's nothing of me in this baby, I'm jsut cooking it for them.

and no, it's not for everyone. If you get attached to tings easily, it might be hard to give it up. Some surros maintain a realationship with the family after birth too though,so they can check on "their" baby. That's something you'd have to work out

I know of people who have carried surrogate children for freinds or family members, but couldn't imagine any other scenario. I think the ability to make those kinds of distinctions are important to the situation.
