It was 20 years ago today that the nation all watched O.J. Join Jack Terry as and Jennifer Arbuckle remember that day and how its effects are still being felt 20 years later.

JT

Jack Terry · 7:01 PM

Greeting people. I'd like to welcome you all as Jennifer Arbuckle and I talk about the "Chase of the Century", O.J. Simpson (slowly) driving his Ford Bronco down the highway after the murder of his wife and another man. How are you Jennifer?
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:01 PM

Hello Jack...this is quite the important day in history
JT

Jack Terry · 7:01 PM

It is. For a lot of reasons Do you remember where you were?
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:01 PM

I'm good...OJ wasn't driving though...it was his buddy
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:01 PM

Another former NFL player gone awry
JT

Jack Terry · 7:02 PM

That's right! Cowlings was trying to help his friend. How'd that work out for him...
JT

Jack Terry · 7:02 PM

This event has obviously taken on a life of its own and is easy to make fun of, but let's remember it started with a murder.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:02 PM

I don't know where he is since the infamous "Bronco chase"
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:03 PM

a dual murder
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:03 PM

Let's not forget about Ron Goldman who was in the wrong place at the wrong time
JT

Jack Terry · 7:03 PM

Two people lost their lives, brutually, but since it was football icon O.J. Simpson, everyone made light of it almost,
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:03 PM

Nicole Brown Simpson was nearly beheaded
JT

Jack Terry · 7:04 PM

He was returning her glasses I think.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:04 PM

It was certainly a joke as it became a slow speed chase with dozen of cop cars
JT

Jack Terry · 7:05 PM

And yet it was "so important" that not only did they cut away from the NBA Finals game, they actually stopped the game and showed the Bronco chase on the big screen at the arena.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:05 PM

Then of course the complete miscarriage of justice in the OJ Simpson murder trial
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:05 PM

Interesting tidbit...the guy that owns the bronco, now rents it out to people!!
JT

Jack Terry · 7:06 PM

Seriously? That's kind of cool (and a little creepy.)
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:06 PM

Imagine going from NFL icon to accused murderer to imprisoned theif
JT

Jack Terry · 7:06 PM

The incompetence by the prosecutor, the made for Hollywood witnesses (Kato Kaelin, Mark Furhman) Judge Ito, it was all a farce.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:07 PM

OJ Simpson managed in one day to completely trash a reputation he had spent a lifetime building
JT

Jack Terry · 7:07 PM

Yeah but it took a lot to imprison him.
JT

Jack Terry · 7:07 PM

O.J. Simpson had to rob a guy in Las Vegas before he ever did any serious time.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:07 PM

Mark Fuhrman is pretty much the reason he got away with murder...
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:08 PM

to steal memorabelia of his so that the Brown's didn't get it...ridiculous
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:08 PM

And....let's talk about the GLOVE
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:08 PM

And the shoes...
JT

Jack Terry · 7:09 PM

It's just so mind blowing to see the audacity that OJ Simpson has. I mean, even to the point of writing a book called "If I Did It."
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:09 PM

That was appalling....his book...how grotesque
JT

Jack Terry · 7:09 PM

The glove, the shoes, all of it was a joke. But it's the reason CourtTV became an overnight success.
JT

Jack Terry · 7:09 PM

One of the most prominent editors in the country lost her job after agreeing to publish it.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:10 PM

True enough...Judge Ito is retiring soon
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:10 PM

I'll bet she did...he got away with murder and that book was an insult to the intelligence of the entire country!
JT

Jack Terry · 7:11 PM

You mean he hasn't already? I thought that trial would have been the nail in his career coffin, just like it was for Marcia Clark, the lead prosecutor.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:11 PM

I thought she could pull it off...Marcia Clark was a leading prosecuter in LA at the time
JT

Jack Terry · 7:12 PM

That's why they gave her the job. They figured if anyone could win the Case against O.J.Simpson it would be her.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:12 PM

But Johnnie Cochran and Kardashian were too much for her...plus the planted evidence...she was fighting a losing battle
JT

Jack Terry · 7:12 PM

The minute the cameras were allowed inside that trial was over.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:13 PM

Mark Fuhrman in his effort to insure OJ Simpson's conviction blew the whole thing
JT

Jack Terry · 7:13 PM

Even he wrote a book a few years later, supposedly fiction, about the whole case.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:13 PM

Not to mention that the racial tension in LA at the time was very high following the riots
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:14 PM

and the Rodney King beating
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:14 PM

Suddenly a murder trial was no more than a high dollar circus
JT

Jack Terry · 7:14 PM

That's certainly an angle to remember. After the Rodney King verdict, if O.J. was found guilty of that murder, the expectations were the riots would start all over again.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:14 PM

and OJ Simpson walked
JT

Jack Terry · 7:14 PM

It blows my mind to this day.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:15 PM

That was indeed a possibility. Also, after 8 months being sequestered...the jury wanted the trial to end
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:15 PM

A complete and utter miscarriage of justice
JT

Jack Terry · 7:15 PM

Some people believe that the Bronco chase and subsequent trial (8 MONTHS?!?! YIKES!!!) was the tipping point that helped push reality tv into the forefront of television entertainment.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:16 PM

That is certainly a valid theory...we were glued to our TV's watching our NFL hero become an ass before our eyes
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:17 PM

You do know that the folks who bought OJ Simpson's home in LA tore it down...
JT

Jack Terry · 7:17 PM

You couldn't write a more compelling drama, with so many people looking for their fifteen minutes of fame.
JT

Jack Terry · 7:18 PM

Not surprised. I'm sure it became one of the stops on the "Tour of the Stars' Homes" about ten minutes after the murder.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:18 PM

Oh, you know all of the sickos were wanting to see both OJ Simpson's house and the murder scene...
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:19 PM

That's why the Bronco is a rental...that guy is likely making bank
JT

Jack Terry · 7:19 PM

Of course. I'm surprised with all the attention the murder is getting on the 20th anniversary that no one has been sick enough to come up with a "Where Are They Now?" reunion of everybody that was involved.
JT

Jack Terry · 7:19 PM

I would feel dirty if I rode in that Bronco!
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:20 PM

One of the news programs like 20/20 and 60 minutes just did that last night
JT

Jack Terry · 7:20 PM

I wonder how many white Broncos Ford sold that following year.
JT

Jack Terry · 7:20 PM

And I missed it? Thank God! I would have felt the need to bleach my eyeballs after!!
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:21 PM

I watched the whole thing...it covered the OJ Simpson murder trial from beginning to end then did the where they are now
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:21 PM

OJ Simpson's main lawyers are both DEAD
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:21 PM

Karma is a bitch
JT

Jack Terry · 7:21 PM

Was Robert Shapiro one of his lawyers? I thought he was still alive shilling for legalzoom.com
JT

Jack Terry · 7:22 PM

Yeah it is!
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:22 PM

Johnnie Cochran and Robert Kardashian are both dead and they were the camera hogs in the courtroom
JT

Jack Terry · 7:23 PM

Johnnie "If it don't fit you must acquit!" Cochran! I bet he doesn't need gloves (or much else0 where he ended up...
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:23 PM

I'm sure it's quite warm...lol
JT

Jack Terry · 7:23 PM

Well, Jennifer as always it was a pleasure tawking with you. Thanks for this trip down memory lane!
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:24 PM

Yes, a slow cruise down the LA highway...
JT

Jack Terry · 7:24 PM

Any slower and that Bronco would've been going backwards!
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:24 PM

Thanks Jack...OJ Simpson a murderer who got away with it...in this world.
JA

Jennifer "JD" Arbuckle · 7:25 PM

Later...have a great day....
