It's time for the All-Star game! Join Jack Terry and Steve Johnson as they talk about this year's MLB summer classic as well as make predictions on the FIFA World Cup final and what's next for Lebron James.

JT

Jack Terry · 1:00 AM

Good evening everyone. I'm here with Steve Johnson, and we're going to talk sports, sports and more sports. How are you tonight Steve?
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:00 AM

I'll tell ya' Jack I'm actually a little ticked right now with major League Baseball to be honest.
JT

Jack Terry · 1:00 AM

Why is that?
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:01 AM

I went to their website to look up the rosters for the MLB All-Star Game, and after ten minutes I finally found it...for the 2003 game!
JT

Jack Terry · 1:01 AM

Are you kidding me? I would think with all the hype surrounding the game, the Home Run Derby, and everything else, it would be right on the front page.
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:02 AM

I think it's a perfect example of how and why they are losing fans while other sports are gaining.
JT

Jack Terry · 1:02 AM

Well, let me ask you this. Do you agree with the All-Star game determining who has home field advantage during the World Series?
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:03 AM

No, and I'll tell you why. This game is turned into a pure exhibition. It's only about a half a step more serious than the NBA All-Star game.
JT

Jack Terry · 1:03 AM

But this gives the teams something to play for.
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:04 AM

If that were really the case, then they wouldn't saddle the managers with mediocre players just to be sure every team is represented.
JT

Jack Terry · 1:04 AM

Speaking of mediocre players, are you surprised that the Boston Red Sox did not have any players named as a starter, and only got a pitcher to start because of an injury to Tanaka?
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:05 AM

Are you kidding? have you seen their record this year? They're about as disappointing as the website for MLB!
JT

Jack Terry · 1:05 AM

Ha!
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:06 AM

As it is, I don't think any team from the AL east has more than two players on the team.
JT

Jack Terry · 1:06 AM

They'd be better off calling it the AL Least!
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:07 AM

Frankly i think the much more exciting news story when it comes to sports is the game that matters: the FIFA World Cup Final.
JT

Jack Terry · 1:08 AM

That certainly looks to be exciting. But do you think there will be a sense of letdown after the brutal display of offensive firepower that Germany put on in the semi final game?
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:08 AM

That was a flat out mauling, and I actually think it says more about the state of soccer in Brazil than in Germany. Brazil played without an identity, and Germany ruthlessly exposed it.
JT

Jack Terry · 1:09 AM

Still (and I know you follow soccer year round) did you really expect this kind of blowout?
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:09 AM

I had Germany winning, but certainly not by that much.
JT

Jack Terry · 1:09 AM

Do you still have them winning?
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:10 AM

I think they can, but i don't think they will. I think it will, like so many other times, come down to the foot of Lionel Messi.
JT

Jack Terry · 1:10 AM

Germany got some good players of their own, including the all time leader in goals scored in the FIFA World Cup.
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:11 AM

They do, and I think they are stronger emotionally than other teams might be after such a big victory, but there is going to be a letdown no matter how hard they try.
JT

Jack Terry · 1:11 AM

So we have you on the record as picking Argentina. Can we get a pick for the MLB All-Star game?
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:12 AM

Oh that's easy. I can tell you right now who is going to win.
JT

Jack Terry · 1:12 AM

Who is that?
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:12 AM

ESPN!
JT

Jack Terry · 1:12 AM

But they're not even showing the game. Just most of the hype, including the Home Run derby, leading up to it.
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:14 AM

That's exactly why they'll win. As a cable network, albeit a very powerful one, they don't have to worry about generating the number of prime time viewers that FOX does. Besides, more people tune in to the Home Run derby than they do for the All-Star
JT

Jack Terry · 1:14 AM

FIFA World Cup on Sunday, Home Run derby on Monday. Looks like ESPN and their parent companies are going to do pretty well over a couple of days.
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:15 AM

Yeah, so Disney better give us a break on the prices next time we go to their amusement parks!
JT

Jack Terry · 1:16 AM

HA! I don't think that will happen, but this might: an amusement park in Sandusky, OH has offered to change the name of one of its roller coasters to the "King James" if free agent Lebron James returns to Cleveland.
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:16 AM

Have you been to Cedar Point in Sandusky? It is a roller coaster lover's dream park. Perfect place for a summer vacation. Did they say which roller coaster?
JT

Jack Terry · 1:16 AM

They did not, but they do have something like fourteen to choose from.
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:17 AM

Maybe that could be part of his negotiating plan. Let Lebron James choose which coaster gets renamed.
JT

Jack Terry · 1:17 AM

I think it's going to take more than that.
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:18 AM

Well, the Cleveland Cavaliers are making the roster moves to free up salary cap and put the right players in place to surround him and draw him away from Miami.
JT

Jack Terry · 1:18 AM

Do you know that it was the 4 year anniversary of "The Decision" just yesterday?
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:19 AM

Man, I hope whoever set him up for that public relations debacle was fired as soon as the cameras started rolling. I think thatcreated too much bad blood for him to ever go back.
JT

Jack Terry · 1:19 AM

I don't know. He hasn't won as many titles as he said he expected to, but he does have rings and a strong connection to the Cleveland area.
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:20 AM

It will certainly be interesting to see where he ends up.
JT

Jack Terry · 1:21 AM

Since you won't give me a real prediction on the MLB All-Star game, give me one on Lebron.
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:21 AM

I think he's back to Miami. They drafted Shabazz Napier because he wanted them to. I think he stays put.
JT

Jack Terry · 1:22 AM

There you have it. For the record, my picks are Germany by two in the FIFA World Cup, the National League by four in the MLB All-Star game, and anyone's guess with Lebron.
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:22 AM

Fence sitter!
JT

Jack Terry · 1:23 AM

Ha! Thanks Steve! Tawk to you soon.
SJ

Steve Johnson · 1:23 AM

Roger and out!
