The 2014 NFL preseason is at the half way point...and some teams have given us just what we expected...others not so much...

The best quote I heard about the Browns situation was that not that Brian Hoyer won the QB competition but that Johnny Manziel lost it.

Actually there is great truth to that statement...Hoyer didn't look much better on Monday but yea...he's got some growing up to do before he can play in the NFL

I think if you look at the numbers (not that either one of them played the least bit impressively) Johnny Football was slightly better: better completion rate, more rushing yards and 1 TD.

Johnny Manziel will only get playing time if Hoyer gets hurt and I don't see that happening two seasons in a row...

He doesn't, and it will be interesting to see how long it takes him to get that maturity. Will he rise to the challenge or will he be a sulky brat about it?

That should be a good game and an even truer test. As we get to the last games of the preseason the starters are going to see a lot more playing time.

But speaking of lost Running Backs, the Pittsburgh Steelers could be without their top 2 RBs when the season opens. Pot may be legal in CO and WA, but not in Pittsburgh!

They were 27th in the rush last season. They were looking to these two players to change that. And everyone knows that without a rushing threat your passing game gets crushed.

I like the fact that this week you get some regional games, like the Giants and the jets squaring off. Neither team looks that good, but when you're playing the team that shares your stadium, you got bragging rights to protect!

I think the game to avoid is Houston in Denver. One team that can't prove anything verswus a team that doesn't have to.

And I think the Texans are only going to become more dysfunctional. JJ Watt is getting paid less than some rookies, but instead of renegotiating his contract, the owner is already saying he plans on putting the franchise tag on him...after 2015!
