Join us as we discuss a fatal crash in the Sprint Cup involving Tony Stewart and Kevin Ward

Hello and thank you for joining me as we discuss this very tragic accident.
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:01 PM

Tiny Stewart has a reputation of having a hot temper and maybe this time it could possibly catch up to him. While driving his racecar during a race, he struck another driver named Kevin ward- killing him.
JB

Jay Bird · 1:02 PM

Hello Nd thank you for having me
JB

Jay Bird · 1:02 PM

I heard about this tragedy. So sad. Had to have been an accident
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:03 PM

Its hard for me to believe that tony Stewart (regardless of his temper) would ever intentionally strike someone with his vehicle.
JB

Jay Bird · 1:03 PM

I agree too.
JB

Jay Bird · 1:03 PM

Rule #1 while racing is you NEVER get out of your car on the track! Even if there is a caution, you stay in your car.
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:04 PM

Apparently Kevin ward was wearing a black fire suit and a back helmet. That would make him barely visible on the black asphalt track.
JB

Jay Bird · 1:04 PM

And when you're in a race car, you have so much gear on that it's hard to see your periphery.
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:04 PM

Yep. For the most part they are used to driving straight with minor turns.
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:05 PM

My heart goes out to Kevin ward 's family
JB

Jay Bird · 1:05 PM

It really is a tragedy.
JB

Jay Bird · 1:05 PM

I'm sure to tony Stewart feels terrible about it. He's the one who has to live with this terrible accident on his mind
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:06 PM

I couldn't imagine. He was going to race as usual in the next race, but they got a sun instead. The whole incident is still under investigation
JB

Jay Bird · 1:06 PM

I imagine so.
JB

Jay Bird · 1:07 PM

So what we know about the accident:
JB

Jay Bird · 1:08 PM

Happened in canandaigua, New York yesterday
JB

Jay Bird · 1:08 PM

Kevin ward was 20 years old and was hit by nascar legend tony Stewart after there was a crash involving both men
JB

Jay Bird · 1:09 PM

Happened during the 14th lap
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:09 PM

anyone would call tiny Stewart an aggressive driver, but not like that
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:09 PM

Tony. Haha
JB

Jay Bird · 1:10 PM

Epic.
JB

Jay Bird · 1:10 PM

And yes, I agree. That would be a whole new level of crazy and hot tempered drivers looking for revenge. It's one thing to get into another guys face...
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:11 PM

True
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:12 PM

His team kept saying they're going on as "business as usual" but then pulled tony Stewart from the race yesterday at the last minute.
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:12 PM

I have not watched the video (do not want to) of him hitting ward
JB

Jay Bird · 1:12 PM

Let me try to find it. I'll watch it!
JB

Jay Bird · 1:14 PM

I found something. Hang on.
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:14 PM

Ok
JB

Jay Bird · 1:17 PM

I'm just finding a guy stating what happened
JB

Jay Bird · 1:17 PM

They may have already taken it down.
JB

Jay Bird · 1:17 PM

Offensive
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:18 PM

Yeah
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:19 PM

It was pretty callous of his team to say they we're going on with business as usual
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:19 PM

Then change their minds and say "oh no, he's not racing now"
JB

Jay Bird · 1:19 PM

Yeah that was pretty dumb from a PR stabdpoint
JB

Jay Bird · 1:19 PM

The entire sprint cup and nascar world will forever be affected
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:19 PM

It really is a sad time
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:20 PM

And tony Stewart had crashed at this track before
JB

Jay Bird · 1:20 PM

It happens. When you drive for a living, no matter what kind, you're bound to be involved in an accident
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:21 PM

Yep. And that 20 year old kid should've just stayed in his car. I can see how he'd be mad he crashed (and thought it was tony Stewarts fault) and wanted to get out and talk smack
JB

Jay Bird · 1:21 PM

I can see that too. Such a shame.
LT

Lizz Taylor · 1:21 PM

Yes. Thank you for joining me
JB

Jay Bird · 1:21 PM

You're welcome. Thank you!
